Genesis 25 – Sáng Thế 25

¹Ông Abraham cưới một người vợ khác, tên là Kêtura. ²Bà sinh cho ông Abraham Dimran, Giốcsan, Mêđan, Miđian, Ishbak và Shua. ³Giốcsan sinh Shêba và Đêđan; con cháu của Đêđan là dòng Assyriaim, họ Lêtusim và họ Lêummim. ⁴Con trai của Miđian là Êpha, Êphe, Hanoch, Abiđa và Elđaa.  Các người này đều là dòng dõi của Kêtura.

¹Abraham married another wife named Keturah. ²She bore him Zimram, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. ³Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan, and the sons of Dedan were the Asshurites, the Letushites, and the Leummites. ⁴The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.

⁵Ông Abraham cho Isaac tất cả gia tài mình; ⁶Nhưng ông cho các con dòng thứ tặng vật; và ngay khi còn tại thế, ông đã sai họ qua đông phương mà sinh sống, cách xa con ông, là Isaac.

⁵Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. ⁶To the sons of his concubines Abraham gave presents, and as long as he lived he sent them away from his son Isaac, to the land of the east.

⁷Ông Abraham hưởng thọ một trăm bảy mươi lăm tuổi; ⁸rồi tắt thở từ trần lúc thượng thọ, tuổi cao sau khi đã sống một đời sung mãn; và ông trở về với tổ tiên, ⁹Hai con trai ông, là Isaac và Ishmael, chôn ông trong hang đá Máchpêla tại ruộng của Éphrôn, con trai Giôha, người Híttít, nằm đối diện Mamrê. ¹⁰Ðó là thửa ruộng mà lúc trước ông Abraham mua lại của dân họ Heth; chỗ đó họ chôn ông Abraham cùng Sara, vợ ông. ¹¹Sau khi ông Abraham qua đời, Đức Chúa chúc phúc cho Isaac con trai ông. Isaac ở gần bên cái giếng Lakai-Rôi.

⁷Abraham had lived a hundred and seventy-five years. ⁸Then at a good old age Abraham breathed his last, an old man, after a full span of years, and was gathered to his ancestors. ⁹His sons, Isaac and Ishmael, buried him in the cave at Machpelah, ¹⁰in the field of Ephron the Hittite, son of Zohar. This was the field near Mamre that Abraham bought from the Hittites. Abraham and his wife, Sarah, were buried there. ¹¹After Abraham’s death God blessed his son Isaac who lived near the well of Lahai-roi.

¹²Đây là dòng dõi của Ishmael, con trai của ông Abraham, bởi nàng Haga, người Ai Cập, nữ tỳ của Sara, đã sinh ra. ¹³Và đây là tên các con trai của Ishmael, theo thứ tự ngày sinh, Con đầu lòng của Ishmael là Nêbaioth; Kêđa, Adbeel, Míbsam, ¹⁴Mishma, Đuma, Massa, ¹⁵Hađa, Têma, Giêtu, Naphít, và Kếtma. ¹⁶Đó là các con trai của Ishmael và tên của họ tùy theo làng và chỗ đóng trại mà đặt. Ðó là mười hai vị tù trưởng trong bộ lạc của họ. ¹⁷Ishmael hưởng thọ một trăm ba mươi bảy tuổi, rồi tắt thở mà qua đời, về với tổ phụ. ¹⁸Con cái Ishmael cắm lều đối diện anh em họ, từ Havila cho đến Xuơ, đối diện Ai Cập, đến tận Assyria.

¹²These are the descendants of Ishmael, the son of Abraham and Hagar, the Egyptian. ¹³These are the names of the sons of Ishmael in order of their birth. Ishmael’s firstborn was Nebaioth, and after him Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, ¹⁴Mishma, Dumah, Massa, ¹⁵Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. ¹⁶These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, according to their settlements and camps, twelve tribal princes. ¹⁷Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people. ¹⁸His descendants lived in the territory stretching from Havilah to Shur, near the border of Egypt in the direction of Assyria.

¹⁹Đây là dòng dõi của Isaac, con trai ông Abraham.  Ông Abraham sinh Isaac. ²⁰Và, khi ông Isaac được bốn mươi tuổi, thì cưới bà Rêbecca, con gái ông Bêthuel và em gái ông Laban, đều là dân Aram, ở tại xứ Pátđan-aram.

¹⁹This is the story of Isaac, son of Abraham. ²⁰Isaac was forty when he married Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel, the Aramean from Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean.

²¹Ông Isaac cầu nguyện cùng Đức Chúa cho vợ ông, vì bà hiếm muộn.  Đức Chúa nghe lời cầu khẩn của ông, nên cho bà Rêbecca thụ thai. ²²Nhưng các em bé trong bụng bà cà khịa với nhau, nên bà nói rằng, “Nếu thật như vậy, thì việc này có ích gì cho tôi?”  Rồi bà đi hội ý Đức Chúa. ²³Đức Chúa phán rằng,    “Hiện có hai nước ở trong lòng ngươi, và hai dân tộc sẽ từ ngươi mà ra; dân này mạnh hơn dân kia, và đứa lớn phải phục đứa bé”.

²¹Isaac prayed to Yahweh for his wife, because she could not have children. Yahweh heard Isaac’s prayer and Rebekah, his wife, conceived. ²²As the children struggled together within her, she said, “If it is like this, why do I continue to live?” She went to consult Yahweh, ²³and Yahweh said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples will be born of you; one nation will be stronger than the other, and the elder shall serve the younger.”

²⁴Đến ngày bà sinh nở, thì hai đứa bé sinh đôi trong bụng bà mà ra. ²⁵Đứa ra trước đỏ hồng, lông khắp người như một áo lông; đặt tên là Êsau. ²⁶Sau đó, đứa em sinh ra, tay nắm lấy gót chân Êsau; nên đặt tên là Giacóp.  Isaac được sáu mươi tuổi khi hai đứa bé này sinh ra.

²⁴When the time came for her to give birth, there were twins in her womb. ²⁵The first to be born was red and his whole body was like a hairy garment, so they called him Esau. ²⁶Then his brother was born and his hand had gripped Esau’s heel so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty at the time of their birth.

²⁷Khi hai đứa bé lớn lên, thì Êsau trở thành một thợ săn giỏi, thường rong ruổi ngoài đồng; còn Giacóp là người hiền lành chỉ sống trong lều. ²⁸Isaac thương Êsau, vì ông thích ăn thịt rừng; nhưng Rêbecca lại thương Giacóp.

²⁷When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country; Jacob was a quiet man living in tents. ²⁸Isaac who had a liking for game loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

²⁹Một ngày kia, khi Giacóp đang nấu cháo, thì Êsau ở ngoài đồng về rất mệt; ³⁰Êsau liền bảo Giacóp rằng, “Em hãy cho anh ăn cháo gì đỏ đó với, vì anh mệt lắm”. Vì thế, người ta gọi Êsau là Êđôm. ³¹Giacóp trả lời, “Trước hết anh hãy bán quyền trưởng nam cho em”. ³²Êsau trả lời, “Này, anh gần chết, quyền trưởng nam có ích gì cho anh?” ³³Giacóp trả lời, “Anh hãy thề trước đi”.  Cậu liền thề; vậy, cậu bán quyền trưởng nam cho Giacóp. ³⁴Rồi, Giacóp cho Êsau ăn bánh và cháo đậu.  Ăn uống xong, Êsau liền đứng dậy ra đi. Êsau coi thường quyền trưởng nam như thế.

²⁹Once when Jacob was making a stew, Esau came back from the country and he was famished; ³⁰and he said to Jacob, “Let me have some of that red stew, for I am famished.” That is why he was also called Edom. ³¹Jacob said, “First sell me your right as the firstborn.” ³²Esau said, “Since I am to die soon, what good is my right as the firstborn to me?” ³³Then Jacob said, “Give me your oath first.” So he swore to him and sold his firstborn right to Jacob. ³⁴Then Jacob gave him bread and the lentil stew. Esau ate and drank and then got up and went his way. So it was that Esau thought nothing of his right as the firstborn.
